Skyscrapers rising beyond the Gowanus Canal.

Going into old man mode. We moved to the area around the time of Gulf War 1 (I remember listening to war reports on the shortwave while we painted, there wasn't even cable on the block back then. I defecate you not.) This vantage point is looking north from the 9th Street bridge over the Gowanus Canal, and in those days (maybe even ten years ago) you'd see the spire of St. Agnes, the housing project to the immediate right... the cement factory, and that's it. (You might not have even seen anyone trusting their boat to the waters of the canal.)

Gowanus, Brooklyn.

Ten years ago.
