An abandoned road, with weeds appearing, curves through trees.

When I was in Vermont, I noticed that if a street sign said "Cemetery Road," invariably the street led to a cemetery. Driving to Montpelier, I passed a street sign that read "Old Mill Hill Road." So, thinking I might get to see an abandoned mill, I turned off the main road and followed Old Mill Hill Road. Part of it was well-maintained, but then I came to a barrier and had to walk. The road beyond the barrier was clearly not being maintained, and I started to salivate. So I walked for quite a while. Never saw the mill.

South Northfield, Vermont.
