A white flagpole for the National Park Service stands
between vacant buildings.

Floyd Bennett Field (Brooklyn) was New York City's first municipal airport. When La Guardia Airport opened, its commercial usefulness became more limited, and it was eventually taken over by the U.S. military. Now it's part of the National Park Service, and is a multi-use facility, with space used by boaters, campers, a Marine Reserve unit, the NYPD, and a commercial athletic facility. This flagpole stands near abandoned dorms that were once part of a job corps program. | Filed in Brooklyn.
