Thou shalt not get cocky.

Sure, it's fun to see Republicans in panic mode over how Obama opened the lead further after the two conventions were over; and it's nice to see that Democrats now lead Republicans in being interested in the election.

Yes, that's all very nice. But it shouldn't be taken for granted, due to efforts to shut down Democrat voters. (In comments, Judy points to another chapter.) I'm not sure that polling organizations are picking that up in their "likely voter" models. (I have no idea whether or not the company I work for is, either; I'm in a completely different group.) But even if we could be confident about the presidential race, that's not enough; there are lots of down-ticket elections which could have an impact on the balance in Congress. So everyone should be diligent.

(It is admittedly interesting to see the RW media circling the wagons around Romney after his brazen bungling of the Libya attack.)
