Obama trash talked, Romney lied.

Today Obama and Romney gave dueling speeches in Ohio. And I should revise my headline; because Obama accurately characterized where Romney's reversions would take us, while Romney, welllll, he lied. No revision necessary on the latter.

Obama is spot on regarding the failed policies of the Bush administration. And he's completely accurate when he points out that Romney would not only continue the Bush tax cuts, but extend them further to the rich and burden the rest of America with them. (Who cares if your house is burning down, you're getting mugged, or classroom sizes are increasing? Romney and his pals [owners] are on Park Avenue, well protected, and their kids are in private school.)

The Romney pitch? Lies and smoke. He ignores the Congressional Budget Office's findings that the Obama stimulus improved the economy; he ignores Steve Benen's famous "bikini chart" showing a reversal in job losses since Obama took office; and in Ohio he ignored how the unemployment rate has fallen below the national average.

A failure? Obama is a failure? Romney could only draw that conclusion if his only source of news was Powerline. But I give Romney more credit than that. Sadly, it leads me to the conclusion that Romney is a liar. And Mitt Romney will say anything to get elected.

Is there another conclusion? I allow that there may be. I just can't think of it. Who wants a go?
